Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 10503 — (The narrator said:) I heard Sayyiduna

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، وَشُعْبَةُ، قَالَا: ثنا جَامِعُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ: أَهَلَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ، فَسِرْنَا لَيْلًا، فَنَزَلْنَا دَهْسًا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ يَكْلَأُنَا؟» قَالَ بِلَالٌ: أَنَا، قَالَ: «إِذًا تَنَامُ» . قَالَ: فَنَامُوا حَتَّى طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ، فَاسْتَيْقَظَ فُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ وَمِنْهُمْ عُمَرُ، وَلَمْ يَسْتَيْقِظِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: اهْبِطُوا، فَاسْتَيْقَظَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «افْعَلُوا كَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَفْعَلُونَ» ، فَلَمَّا فَعَلُوا قَالَ: «هَكَذَا لِمَنْ نَامَ مِنْكُمْ أَوْ نَسِيَ»
(The narrator said:) I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered ihram from Hudaybiyah. We travelled by night, then we camped on soft ground, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who will keep watch over us?" Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I will." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then you will fall asleep." So they all slept until the sun rose. So-and-so and so-and-so woke up, among them Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not wake up, so he said: "Come down." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) woke up and said: "Do as you used to do." When they had done so, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever among you sleeps or forgets should do likewise."
