Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 10488 — when the Prophet ﷺ arrived in Madinah

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ الْجُمَحِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَعْدَةَ بْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ أَقْطَعَ الدُّورَ، وَأَقْطَعَ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ فِيمَنْ أَقْطَعَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، نَكِّبْهُ عَنَّا، قَالَ: «فَلِمَ بَعَثَنِي اللهُ إِذًا؟ إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَا يُقَدِّسُ أُمَّةً لَا يُعْطُونَ الضَّعِيفَ مِنْهُمْ حَقَّهُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) allotted plots of land for houses to the Companions, and Ibn Mas'ud was among those to whom he allotted. His (peace and blessings be upon him) Companions said: "O Messenger of Allah, keep him away from us." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then why did Allah send me? Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, does not purify a nation that does not give the weak among them their due."
