It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No one will enter Hell who has in his heart faith equal to the weight of a mustard seed, and no one will enter Paradise who has in his heart pride equal to the weight of a mustard seed." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, I like my garment to be washed, my head to be oiled and the strap of my sandal to be new" - and he mentioned several things until he mentioned even the strap of a whip - "so is that part of pride, O Messenger of Allah?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, that is beauty. Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is beautiful and loves beauty. Rather, pride is to belittle the truth and look down on people."
