باب من روى عن ابن مسعود أنه لم يكن مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ليلة الجن
Chapter: Those who reported that Ibn Masud (may Allah be pleased with him) was not with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Night of the Jinn
Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 10070 — the Prophet ﷺ said: If I were to take

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا عَفَّانُ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْهُذَيْلِ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَوْ كُنْتُ مُتَّخِذًا خَلِيلًا لَاتَّخَذْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ خَلِيلًا، وَلَكِنْ أَخِي وَصَاحِبِي، وَقَدِ اتَّخَذَ اللهُ صَاحِبَكُمْ خَلِيلًا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If I were to take anyone as a khalil (intimate friend), I would take Abu Bakr; but he is my brother and my companion, and Allah has taken your companion as His khalil."
