حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ نَائِلَةَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدَةَ التَّمَّارُ، ثنا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " يَجِيءُ الرَّجُلُ آخِذًا بِيَدِ الرَّجُلِ فَيَقُولُ: يَا رَبِّ، هَذَا قَتَلَنِي، فَيَقُولُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: لِمَ قَتَلْتَهُ؟ فَيَقُولُ: لِتَكُونَ الْعِزَّةُ لَكَ، فَيَقُولُ: فَإِنَّهَا لِي "، قَالَ: " وَيَجِيءُ الرَّجُلُ آخِذًا بِيَدِ الرَّجُلِ فَيَقُولُ: أَيْ رَبِّ، قَتَلَنِي هَذَا، فَيَقُولُ اللهُ: لِمَ قَتَلْتَ هَذَا؟ فَيَقُولُ: قَتَلْتُهُ لِتَكُونَ الْعِزَّةُ لِفُلَانٍ، فَيَقُولُ: إِنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ لَهُ، بُؤْ بِذَنْبِهِ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man will come holding another man by the hand and will say: O my Lord, this one killed me. Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say: Why did you kill him? He will say: So that the honour would be Yours. Allah will say: It is indeed Mine." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And a man will come holding another man by the hand and will say: O my Lord, this one killed me. Allah will say: Why did you kill him? He will say: I killed him so that the honour would be for so-and-so. Allah will say: That honour does not belong to him; go back bearing your sin."
