حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجٍ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، قَالَ: " تُوُفِّيَ بِلَالٌ مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ، وَيُقَالُ: إِنَّهُ تِرْبُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ بِدِمَشْقَ فِي الطَّاعُونِ، وَدُفِنَ عِنْدَ بَابِ الصَّغِيرِ، وَيُكَنَّى أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ فِي سَنَةِ سَبْعٍ، أَوْ ثَمَانَ عَشْرَةَ، وَهُوَ مِنْ مُوَلَّدِي السَّرَاةِ، وَيُقَالُ: بِلَالٌ، يُكَنَّى أَبَا عَمْرٍو "
Yahya bin Bukayr said: Bilal, the freed slave of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), passed away, and it is said that he was the same age as Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). He died in Damascus during the plague and was buried near Bab al-Saghir. His kunyah was Abu Abdullah. (He died) in the year 17 or 18 AH. He was one of those born in al-Sarat, and it is also said that Bilal's kunyah was Abu Amr.
