It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that we were sitting in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when suddenly we saw him (peace and blessings be upon him) smile in such a way that his (peace and blessings be upon him) front teeth became visible. At this Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "O Messenger of Allah! May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, what made you laugh?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two men of my Ummah knelt on their knees before Allah, the Lord of Might, Majestic is His Majesty. One of them pleaded: 'Ya Rabbi, khudh li mazlamati min akhi' (O my Lord! Take for me the recompense of the wrong my brother did me). At this Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said (to the other man): 'Give your brother back his right.' He said: 'O my Master! Nothing at all is left of my good deeds now (that I could give him).' Then the complainant said: 'O my Lord! Then let the burden of my sins be placed on him.'" (While relating this) tears flowed from the eyes of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Surely that will be a tremendous day; on that day people will be in dire need of someone else carrying the burden of their sins. Then Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, said to the man making the claim: 'Raise your gaze and look at these gardens.' He raised his head and said: 'O my Lord! I see cities made of silver and palaces made of gold, studded with pearls. For which prophet, which truthful one (siddiq) or which martyr are these?' Allah Almighty said: 'This is for whoever pays its price.' He said: 'O my Lord! And who could possess its price?' Allah, Majestic and Exalted, said: 'You can pay its price.' He asked: 'O my Lord! How so?' Allah Almighty said: 'By pardoning your brother.' He at once said: 'O my Lord! I have pardoned him.' Then Allah Almighty said: 'Take your brother by the hand and admit him (with you) into Paradise.'" Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "So fear Allah and set right the affairs between yourselves, for Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will also make reconciliation between the believers on the Day of Resurrection."
This narration is very weak in its chain.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from the Rightly Guided Caliph Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "It has reached us that when the Day of Resurrection comes, a caller will announce in a loud voice: 'Where are the people who pardoned and forgave?' He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, will grant them the best reward and recompense, befitting His generosity, in return for the pardon and forgiveness they showed to people."
The chain of this narration contains Kawthar bin Hakim, a narrator who is "matruk al-hadith" (abandoned in hadith), so this narration is weak in its chain; Imam Ahmad bin Mani' recorded it in his Musnad (see: Ithaf al-Khiyarah al-Maharah, al-Busiri: 4616).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When all creatures are gathered together on the Day of Resurrection, and then the people of Paradise have entered Paradise and the people of Hell have entered Hell, a caller will call out in a voice that all creatures will hear: 'O people of the gathering! Forgive one another the wrongs and violations of rights you committed against each other; your recompense and reward is upon Me, out of My generosity.'"
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this hadith through Suwayd bin Sa'id, and Muhammad bin Abi Bakr also narrated something similar from al-Hakam bin Sinan.
