Abd al-Muhaymin bin Abbas narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather, that his father Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for the Battle of Badr. When he reached al-Rawha', he passed away. He had written his will on the back part of his camel saddle, in which he bequeathed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) his mount, his saddle and three wasq (approximately 180 sa') of barley. He (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted it and then returned it to his heirs, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) also assigned him his regular share (of the spoils).
Imam al-Harith says: "This is a mention of the virtues of those fortunate ones who took part in the Battle of Badr."
