قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ ، ثَنَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ ابْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - ، قَالَ : قَدَّمْنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَمْرًا ، فَجَثَا عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ ، فَأَخَذَ قَبْضَةً ، فَقَالَ : اذْهَبْ بِهَذَا إِلَى فُلَانَةَ وَأَخَذَ قَبْضَةً ، وَقَالَ : اذْهَبْ بِهَذَا إِلَى فُلَانَةَ ، حَتَّى قَسَمَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ نِسَائِهِ قَبْضَةً قَبْضَةً ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ قَبْضَةً يَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ ، وَيُلْقِي النَّوَى بِشِمَالِهِ ، فَمَرَّتْ بِهِ دَاجِنَةٌ ، فَنَاوَلَهَا إِيَّاهُ ، فَأَكَلَتْهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that we came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with some dates. He (peace and blessings be upon him) sat on his knees (to distribute them), took a handful of dates and said: "Take this and give it to so-and-so (one of his honoured wives)." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) took another handful and said: "Take this to so-and-so." In this way he (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed a handful of dates to each of his pure wives. After that he (peace and blessings be upon him) took a handful (for himself) and began to eat from it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) kept taking out the date stones and putting them down with his left hand. Meanwhile a domestic animal of the house (a goat or the like) passed by him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave those stones to it, and it ate them.
Imam Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili narrated this hadith in his Musnad. The narrator in its chain, Abu Ma'shar Najih bin Abd al-Rahman al-Sindi, has been declared weak because of the weakness of his memory; however, together with other supporting reports and corroborating chains, this narration can reach the level of hasan (good).
Imam Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili narrated this hadith in his Musnad. حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَرْعَرَةَ ، ثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، نَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ إِسْحَاقَ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - ، قَالَتْ : بَعَثَتْنِي عَمَّتِي - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجِئْتُهُ وَعِنْدَهُ حِلْيَةٌ أَهْدَاهَا لَهُ صَاحِبُ الْبَحْرَيْنِ ، فَأَخَذَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ تِلْكَ الْحِلْيَةِ مِلْءَ يَدَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : يَا بُنَيَّةُ ، هَذَا لَكِ .
It is narrated from Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh (may Allah be pleased with her) that my paternal aunt sent me to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I came to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) had with him some jewellery which the ruler of Bahrain had presented to him (peace and blessings be upon him) as a gift. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took up his two palms full of that jewellery (a handful) and said (with great tenderness): "O my dear daughter! This is for you."
The chain of this hadith is hasan (good); Muhammad bin Ishaq has explicitly stated that he heard it directly, and it has been recorded by Imam Ahmad in al-Musnad, Ibn Sa'd in al-Tabaqat al-Kubra and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir.

Ibn Ishaq narrates with this same chain that "the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was very pleased by (fresh) cucumber, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was very fond of cucumber."
Imam Ahmad narrated this hadith in abridged form through the route of Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil from Sayyidah al-Rubayyi' (may Allah be pleased with her).
