It is narrated from Shaqiq (may Allah have mercy on him) that he used to supplicate to Allah Almighty in this way: 'Allahumma in kunta katabtana 'indaka ashqiya'a famhuna waktubna su'ada'a, wa in kunta katabtana su'ada'a fa-athbitna, fa-innaka tamhu ma tasha'u wa tuthbitu wa 'indaka ummul-kitab' (O Allah! If You have written us with You (in the Preserved Tablet) among the wretched, then erase us from there and write us among the fortunate; and if You have written us among the fortunate, then keep it fixed and established; for You erase what You will and keep (remaining and) established what You will, and with You is the Mother of the Book (the Preserved Tablet)), as is said in the Noble Qur'an: "Allah erases what He wills and establishes, and with Him is the Mother of the Book" [Surah al-Ra'd: 39].
Imam Abdullah bin Ahmad narrated it in Kitab al-Zuhd.

Salim narrates from his father, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited (this blessed verse of Surah al-Ra'd): "and the one who has knowledge of the Book" [Surah al-Ra'd: 43], meaning: "And (also a witness is) the one who has knowledge of the Book."
Imam Abu Ya'la narrated this hadith; however, its chain contains a narrator named Sulayman bin Arqam, who is weak and matruk al-hadith (abandoned in hadith), so this narration is weak and unreliable in its chain.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: "Allah erases what He wills and establishes, and with Him is the Mother of the Book" [Surah al-Ra'd: 39], that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, erases whatever He wills from the origin of things (that is, the Preserved Tablet), and adds to it whatever He wills." (The narrator of the hadith, Hammam, said:) I asked al-Kalbi: Who narrated this hadith to you? He said: Abu Salih narrated it to me from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who narrated it from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
And the hadith of Sayyiduna al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning the occasion of revelation of the saying of Allah Almighty: "And if there were a Qur'an by which the mountains were moved or the earth was cut asunder" [Surah al-Ra'd: 31], will come, if Allah Almighty wills, in the interpretation of Surah al-Shu'ara'.
