قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : " أَيُّ سَمَاءٍ تُظِلُّنِي ، وَأَيُّ أَرْضٍ تُقِلُّنِي ، إِذَا قُلْتُ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ مَا لَا أَدْرِي ، أَوْ مَا لَمْ أَسْمَعْ ؟ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Which sky would shade me and which earth would bear me (that is, give me a place upon it), if I were to say something about the Book of Allah Almighty that I do not know, or about which I have not heard anything (from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him))?"
This report is reliable. Imam Musaddad bin Musarhad recorded it in his Musnad and all its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy); Imam Ibn Abi Shaybah and Imam al-Tabari also transmitted it in their books with a jayyid (good) chain.

قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : ثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، ثَنَا مَعْنٌ ، عَنْ فُلَانِ ابْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ لَا يُفَسِّرُ شَيْئًا مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ إِلَّا آيًا بِعَدَدٍ عَلَّمَهُنَّ إِيَّاهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not give an explanation (tafsir) of anything of the Noble Qur'an (from his own opinion), except for a certain number of verses which Jibril (peace be upon him) had taught him (peace and blessings be upon him)."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this hadith in his Musnad; however, because of the isolated narration (tafarrud) and weakness of the narrator Muhammad bin Khalid in its chain, this report is munkar (denounced) according to the hadith scholars.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى ، ثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ، ثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ جُنْدُبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَوْ سَمِعَهُ مِنْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ ذَكَرَ أَنَّ فِي أُمَّتِي قَوْمًا يَقْرَؤُونَ الْقُرْآنَ يَنْثُرُونَهُ نَثْرَ الدَّقَلِ يَتَأَوَّلُونَهُ عَلَى غَيْرِ تَأْوِيلِهِ ..
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that it reached him through Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him), or he heard it from him directly, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, there will appear in my Ummah people who will recite the Noble Qur'an, but they will scatter it like worthless, inferior dry dates (without reflection or contemplation and in extreme haste), and they will give the Qur'an arbitrary interpretations entirely contrary to its original and true meaning."
Al-Tabarani recorded this hadith in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (3031), and al-Haythami declared its narrators thiqat (trustworthy) in Majma' al-Zawa'id.
