وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيُّمَا قَوْمٍ جَلَسُوا فِي مَجْلِسٍ ثُمَّ تَفَرَّقُوا مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَذْكُرُوا اللهَ تَعَالَى وَيُصَلُّوا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ ذَلِكَ الْمَجْلِسُ عَلَيْهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَسْرَةً " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any people who sit together in a gathering and then disperse and part from it without remembering Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, and without sending blessings and peace upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that gathering will be a cause of regret, sorrow and intense remorse for them on the Day of Resurrection."
Ahmad bin Mani' recorded this hadith in his Musnad. Although its chain contains Yusuf bin Atiyyah, a da'if (weak) narrator, the meaning of this hadith is established by other reliable supporting witnesses and authentic hadith.

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ، ثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ الْبَرَّاءُ ، ثَنَا شَدَّادُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْوَازِعِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا جَلَسَ قَوْمٌ قَطُّ مَجْلِسًا ، لَمْ يَذْكُرُوا اللهَ تَعَالَى ، إِلَّا كَانَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسْرَةً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever some people sit together in a gathering in which they do not remember Allah Almighty, that gathering will certainly be a cause of regret and remorse for them on the Day of Resurrection."
Abu Ya'la recorded this hadith in his Musnad, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), while al-Haythami, quoting it in Majma' al-Zawa'id, declared its chain hasan (good).
