وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَنَانٌ الْأَسَدِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا أُهْدِيَ لِأَحَدِكُمْ رَيْحَانٌ ، فَلَا يَرُدَّهُ ، فَإِنَّهُ خَرَجَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ " .
هَذَا حَدِيثٌ مُرْسَلٌ حَسَنٌ .

It is narrated from Abu Uthman al-Nahdi (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: "When one of you is given basil (rayhan, a fragrant plant) as a gift, let him never refuse it, for it came out of Paradise."
This hadith is mursal hasan.

وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى ، وَيَحْيَى ، فَرَّقَهُمَا ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ عَمِّ أَبِيهِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا تَرُدُّوا الطِّيبَ ، فَإِنَّهُ خَفِيفُ الْمَحْمِلِ ، طَيِّبُ الرِّيحِ " .
Abd al-Hamid bin Ja'far (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father's paternal uncle, Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Hakam (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not refuse (a gift of) perfume, for it is very light to carry and very pure and pleasant in fragrance."
Imam Musaddad narrated this hadith in his Musnad; moreover, this hadith is also narrated in Musnad Ahmad and Sunan al-Nasa'i, and its chains are of the hasan (good) grade.
