قَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ عَمْرٍو النَّاجِيُّ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " أَيُّمَا أَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ أَخَذَهُ الْوِرْدُ ، فَلْيَصُبَّ عَلَيْهِ جَرَّةَ مَاءٍ بَارِدٍ " . قَالَ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ : الْوِرْدُ : الْحُمَّى .
It is narrated from Alqamah bin Abdullah al-Muzani (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever among you is seized by the heat and burning of fever (wird), let him pour a full jar of cold water over himself."
Al-Hadrami (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the word "al-wird" used in the hadith means fever.

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ الْحَمَّالُ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا حُمَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ، فَلْيَشُنَّ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ الْبَارِدَ ثَلَاثَ لَيَالٍ مِنَ السَّحَرِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you has a fever, let him pour cold water over himself at the time of sahar (that is, shortly before true dawn) for three consecutive nights."
