It is narrated from Abu Ruman that the Commander of the Believers, Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), was asked about the walimah food: O Commander of the Believers, why is it that the aroma of walimah food is far more delightful and pure than the smell of our ordinary meals? At this he (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "In the walimah food there is a mithqal (a tiny measure) of the fragrance of Paradise." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) also gave this reason: the Friend of Allah, Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for it (the walimah food) 'an yubaraka fihi wa yutayyibahu' (that it be blessed and made fragrant and pure).
From a technical and research standpoint, the chain of this hadith is extremely weak and obscure (muzlim).
