قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، عَنْ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : لَا يُتِمُّ شَهْرَانِ سِتِّينَ يَوْمًا .
أَبُو شَيْبَةَ هُوَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ جَدُّ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، ضَعِيفٌ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two months (in succession) do not both complete sixty days."

وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنِ الرُّكَيْنِ ، عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ قَبِيصَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : الشَّهْرُ ثَلَاثُونَ ، وَالشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "A month is thirty days, and a month is (also) twenty-nine days."

وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، ثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ لَا نُكَذِّبُهُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرْتُ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : الشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ ، فَأَنْكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ ، وَقَالَتْ : يَغْفِرُ اللهُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، لَيْسَ كَذَلِكَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَكِنْ قَالَ : الشَّهْرُ يَكُونُ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ .
Imam Ahmad bin Mani' (may Allah have mercy on him) states that Rawh narrated to us; he said: Ibn Jurayj informed us through Ibn Abi Mulaykah, who narrates from a man of Banu Tamim whom we do not accuse of lying (that is, he is trustworthy and reliable). He said: I told the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A month is twenty-nine days." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) objected to this and said: 'Yaghfirullahu li-Abi Abd al-Rahman' (May Allah Almighty forgive Abu Abd al-Rahman, that is, Ibn Umar). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not say it like that (absolutely); rather, what he (peace and blessings be upon him) said was: "A month (sometimes) is twenty-nine days."
