It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him), having finished standing (in the night prayer), turned towards the people and said: "The part of the night that now remains is far more virtuous than the part that has passed."
The chain of this report is strong, and it describes the virtue of the last part of the night and the time before dawn, which is also established by other blessed hadith.

Imam Abd bin Humayd also narrated it through Abu Nu'aym from Abu Shaybah, who is Ibrahim (bin Uthman), with this same chain and text.
