بَابُ اسْتِحْبَابِ عَدَمِ الِاسْتِعَانَةِ فِي الطُّهُورِ

قَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَلَاءِ هُوَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا حَمْزَةَ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ : " وَلَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَكِلُ صَدَقَتَهُ إِلَى غَيْرِ نَفْسِهِ ، حَتَّى يَكُونَ هُوَ الَّذِي يَضَعُهَا فِي يَدِ السَّائِلِ ، وَلَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَكِلُ وُضُوءَهُ إِلَى غَيْرِ نَفْسِهِ ، حَتَّى يَكُونَ هُوَ الَّذِي يُهَيِّئُ وُضُوءَهُ لِنَفْسِهِ حِينَ يَقُومُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: "I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entrust the distribution of his charity and alms to anyone other than himself; rather, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would personally place it in the hand of the one asking. Nor did I ever see the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) hand over the arrangement of his ablution to anyone other than himself; rather, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) woke at night (for the Tahajjud prayer), he would himself prepare his water for ablution and other necessities."
Imam Ahmad bin Mani' narrated this hadith. Mu'awiyah bin Salih in its chain is a trustworthy (thiqah) narrator, and this narration indicates the perfect humility of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his (peace and blessings be upon him) personal attention and care in matters of charity and worship.
Imam Ahmad bin Mani' narrated this hadith. وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ ، ثَنَا النَّضْرُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَنْصُورٍ ، ثَنَا أَبُو الْجَنُوبِ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يَسْتَقِي مَاءً لِوُضُوئِهِ ، فَبَادَرْتُهُ أَسْتَقِي لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : مَهْ يَا أَبَا الْجَنُوبِ ; فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يَسْتَقِي مَاءً لِوُضُوئِهِ فَبَادَرْتُهُ أَسْتَقِي لَهُ فَقَالَ : مَهْ يَا أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ; فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَقِي مَاءً لِوُضُوئِهِ فَبَادَرْتُ أَسْتَقِي لَهُ فَقَالَ : " مَهْ يَا عُمَرُ ; فَإِنِّي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَشْرَكَنِي فِي طُهُورِي أَحَدٌ " .
It is narrated from Abu al-Janub that he said: I saw Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) drawing water for his ablution, so I hurried towards him to draw the water for him. He said: "O Abu al-Janub, stop! For I saw Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) drawing water for his ablution, and I hastened forward to draw the water for him, and he said: 'O Abu al-Hasan, wait! For I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) drawing water for his ablution, and I wanted to be first in drawing the water for him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umar, wait! For I dislike that anyone should share with me in the act of my purification."'"
Imam Abu Ya'la narrated this hadith in his Musnad; however, its chain contains a narrator named Abu al-Janub Uqbah bin Alqamah al-Yashkuri, whom the hadith scholars declared weak.
