قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ قَالَ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا رَأَى الْهِلَالَ قَالَ : آمَنْتُ بِاللهِ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ - ثَلَاثًا - .
It is narrated from Abbad bin Ja'far al-Makhzumi (may Allah have mercy on him) that whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw the new crescent, he would say this supplication three times: "'Amantu billahi alladhi khalaqak' (I believe in Allah who created you)."
