وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، ثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، سَمِعْتُ مُوسَى بْنَ سَلَمَةَ ، سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ ؟ فَقَالَ : " ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ لِلْمُسَافِرِ ، وَيَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ لِلْمُقِيمِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Musa bin Salamah asked him about wiping over leather socks, and he said: "For the traveller (the period) is three days and their nights, and for the resident one day and one night is fixed."
The chain of this narration is sahih, and Imam al-Harith bin Abi Usamah narrated it in his Musnad.
