وَقَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ : ثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ لِبَنَاتِهَا : تَصَدَّقْنَ وَلَا تَنْتَظِرْنَ الْفَضْلَ ، فَإِنَّكُنَّ إِنِ انْتَظَرْتُنَّ الْفَضْلَ لَمْ تَجِدْنَ ، وَإِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُنَّ لَمْ تَجِدْنَ فَقْدَهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) that she advised her daughters, saying: "Keep giving sadaqah and charity in the way of Allah, and do not wait for abundance (of wealth) or savings beyond your needs, for the truth is that if you wait for surplus wealth to be left over, you will never get it; and if you give sadaqah, you will not feel the slightest lack or loss of the wealth you spent."
