قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرِو بْنِ حِمَاسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، وَكَانَ يَبِيعُ الْأَدَمَ وَالْجِعَابَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي عُمَرُ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - : زَكِّ مَالَكَ ، قُلْتُ : إِنَّمَا هُوَ الْأَدَمُ ، وَالْجِعَابُ ، قَالَ : قَوِّمْهُ ثُمَّ أَخْرِجْ صَدَقَتَهُ .
Abu Amr bin Himas (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, who used to trade in leather and quivers, that he said: The Commander of the Believers Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: "Pay the zakah on your wealth." I said: "O Commander of the Believers! All I have is leather and quivers for holding arrows (as trade goods)." He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Work out their market value and then pay their zakah accordingly."
