وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ السَّائِبَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ عُثْمَانَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - يَقُولُ : هَذَا شَهْرُ زَكَاتِكُمْ ، فَمَنْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ فَلْيَقْضِ ، ثُمَّ لِيَتْرُكْ مَا بَقِيَ .
إِسْنَادُهُ صَحِيحٌ ، وَهُوَ مَوْقُوفٌ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "This is the month for paying your zakah, so whoever owes a debt, let him pay it off, then let him pay zakah from whatever wealth remains."
