It is narrated from a Companion of the Messenger (may Allah be pleased with him) (who had seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)) that "the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) relieved himself (urinated), then he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited some verses of the Noble Qur'an before touching water (that is, before performing ablution or purifying himself)."
Imam Ahmad bin Mani' narrated this hadith. Although the name of the narrator in its chain is unspecified, his being a Companion is sufficient for his integrity and reliability, because all the Companions are upright.
