قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْمُقْرِئُ ، ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ الْعَبْسِيُّ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَرِيزٍ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : مَا عَزَّى مُؤْمِنٌ مُؤْمِنًا قَطُّ بِمُصِيبَةٍ إِلَّا كُسِيَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حُلَّةً يُحْبَرُ فِيهَا .
Talhah bin Ubaydullah bin Kariz (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any believer who ever consoles a (distressed) believing brother of his (that is, shows him sympathy and comforts him) in an affliction, Allah Almighty will dress him on the Day of Resurrection in a splendid garment in which he will be exceedingly joyful, honoured and esteemed."
Imam Ibn Majah also recorded this hadith, and some hadith scholars have graded it hasan (good).
