It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever prays the funeral prayer over a deceased person, it is as though he fasted one day in the path of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and that one day is equal (in reward) to seven hundred days; and whoever attends the funeral of a Muslim man, it is as though he fasted one day in the path of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and that one day is equal to seven hundred days."
Takhrij and grading: Imam al-Bazzar recorded this hadith in his Musnad; its chain contains a narrator named Mindal bin Ali al-Kufi, who is da'if (weak) according to the majority of hadith scholars, and because of him this narration is weak in its chain.
