قَالَ الْحُمَيْدِيُّ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَسَّانُ بْنُ جَعْدَةَ ، [ قَالَ ] : رَأَيْتُ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - دَخَلَ مَسْجِدَ وَاسِطٍ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَابْنُ هُبَيْرَةَ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ جَلَسَ .
It is narrated from Hassan bin Ja'dah (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: "I saw al-Hasan bin Abi al-Hasan (Imam Hasan al-Basri) (may Allah have mercy on him) enter the Jami' mosque of Wasit on Friday while (the governor) Ibn Hubayrah was delivering the sermon on the pulpit. So he (may Allah have mercy on him) prayed two rak'ahs (before sitting) and then sat down."
