وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، ثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَجُلًا أَخَّرَ الصَّلَاةَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ شَيْخٌ : وَاللهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي ، فَمَا رَأَيْتُهُ يَصْنَعُ كَمَا تَصْنَعُ أَنْتَ ! قَالَ : فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُ ذَكَرَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قُلْتُ لَهُ : كَيْفَ رَأَيْتَهُ صَنَعَ ؟ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُهُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - خَرَجَ حِينَ زَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ وَإِذَا الرَّجُلُ أَبُو جُحَيْفَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ .
It is narrated from al-Hakam bin Utaybah that a man delayed the prayer on Friday, so an elderly man said to him (as a warning): "By Allah! I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) pray, and I never saw him (peace and blessings be upon him) do as you are (now) doing!" The narrator said: When I saw that he had mentioned the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I asked him: "How did you see him act?" He replied: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) come out (for the prayer) when the sun had declined." And that elderly man was Sayyiduna Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him).
