وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : لَمْ يَكُونُوا عَلَى شَيْءٍ مُحَافَظَةً فِي التَّطَوُّعِ مِنْهُمْ عَلَى صَلَاةٍ قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were not as regular and constant in any voluntary worship as they were in the (sunnah) prayer performed before the Zuhr prayer."
Imam Ahmad bin Mani' narrated it in his Musnad, and its chain is sahih (authentic).
