وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ الْمُحَبَّرِ ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبَانَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : خَرَجْتُ وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ الْمَسْجِدَ ، فَإِذَا أَنَا بِزَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى مَنْكِبِي - يَتَوَكَّأُ عَلَيَّ - قَالَ : فَبَقِيتُ أَجُرُّ الْخَطْوَ - لِلشَّبَابِ - فَقَالَ لِي زَيْدٌ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : قَرِّبْ خَطْوَكَ ، فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : مَنْ مَشَى إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ كَانَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ عَشْرُ حَسَنَاتٍ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): I left home intending to go to the mosque, and suddenly I met Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him). He placed his hand on my shoulder so that he could walk leaning on me. He says: Because of my youth I began taking long strides, so Sayyiduna Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: "Keep your steps close together, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Whoever walks to the mosque, ten good deeds are written for him for every step.'"
