وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ ، ثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنِ الْأَحْنَفِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا سَلَّامٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو صَالِحٍ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ : أَنَّ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَشْعَرِيَّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِرَجُلٍ لَا يُتِمُّ رُكُوعَهُ وَلَا سُجُودَهُ . قَالَ : لَوْ مَاتَ هَذَا عَلَى مَا هُوَ عَلَيْهِ لَمَاتَ عَلَى غَيْرِ مِلَّةِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ; فَأَمَّا الرُّكُوعُ مَعَ السُّجُودِ ، فَإِنَّ مَثَلَ الَّذِي يُصَلِّي وَلَا يُتِمُّ رُكُوعَهُ وَلَا سُجُودَهُ كَمَثَلِ الْجَائِعِ الَّذِي لَا يَأْكُلُ إِلَّا التَّمْرَةَ أَوِ التَّمْرَتَيْنِ لَا يُغْنِيَانِ عَنْهُ شَيْئًا .
قَالَ أَبُو صَالِحٍ : فَلَقِيتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ ، فَقُلْتُ : مَنْ حَدَّثَكَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ ؟ أَوَأَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ ؟ قَالَ : إِنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ أُمَرَاءُ الْأَجْنَادِ : خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، وَشُرَحْبِيلُ بْنُ حَسَنَةَ ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ : إِنَّهُمْ سَمِعُوهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
قَالَ أَبُو صَالِحٍ : فَلَقِيتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ ، فَقُلْتُ : مَنْ حَدَّثَكَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ ؟ أَوَأَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ ؟ قَالَ : إِنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ أُمَرَاءُ الْأَجْنَادِ : خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، وَشُرَحْبِيلُ بْنُ حَسَنَةَ ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ : إِنَّهُمْ سَمِعُوهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Abdullah al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was not completing his bowing and his prostration (in prayer). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If this man dies in this state, he will die upon a way other than the religion of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)." Then, describing the state of bowing and prostration, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the likeness of the one who prays but does not perform his bowing and prostration fully is like a hungry person who eats only one or two dates, which do nothing to remove his hunger."
Abu Salih said: I met Sayyiduna Abu Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked: "Who narrated this hadith to you? Or did you hear it yourself?" He replied that he had heard it from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) himself, and the commanders of the armies, Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid, Sayyiduna Shurahbil bin Hasanah and Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them), also confirmed that they had heard it from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) themselves.
Abu Salih said: I met Sayyiduna Abu Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked: "Who narrated this hadith to you? Or did you hear it yourself?"
