It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There will be seventy thousand people of my Ummah who will enter Paradise without any reckoning." Hearing this, Sayyiduna Ukkashah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Prophet of Allah! Supplicate to Allah Almighty to include me too among these fortunate ones. He (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: 'Allahumma ij'alhu minhum' (O Allah, include him among them). Then another man stood up and said: Supplicate to Allah Almighty to include me among them too. He (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for him as well: 'Allahumma ij'alhu minhum' (O Allah, include him among them). After this the people present remained silent for a while and then began talking among themselves; some of them said: If only we too had said: O Messenger of Allah! Supplicate to Allah to include us among them as well. At this he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ukkashah and his companion have gone ahead of you. The truth is that had you said it (in time), I would certainly have supplicated, and had I supplicated, it (acceptance) would have become binding."
In the chain of this narration, Muhammad bin Abi Layla is open to criticism because of his memory; however, the basic virtue of seventy thousand people entering Paradise without reckoning is established and authentic in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim through various chains.
