It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection Allah Almighty will make Himself known to me (show me His manifestation), and I will perform a prostration in the divine court with which He will be pleased with me. Then I will praise and extol Him with such praise that He will be pleased with me. Then I will be given permission to speak. After that my Ummah will pass over the Sirat, which will be set up right over Hell (between its two sides), and the people will pass over it faster than the blink of an eye and an arrow, then faster than the finest thoroughbred horses, until a man will come out of it crawling on his backside; and this speed will be according to their deeds. At that time Hell will keep asking for more until Allah Almighty places His foot in it, whereupon it will shrink and its parts will close in on one another, and it will say: 'Qat, qat' (Enough, enough). And at that time I will be at the Pool." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what is the Pool?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One in whose Hand is my soul! Its drink is whiter than milk, sweeter than honey, colder than ice and more fragrant than musk, and the number of its cups (vessels) is greater than the count of the stars of the sky. Whoever drinks from it once will never feel thirst, and whoever is turned away from it will never have his thirst quenched."
Imam Abu Ya'la narrated it in his Musnad. Its chain contains the narrator Abd al-Ghaffar bin al-Qasim, who is severely weak and matruk (abandoned); however, supporting narrations for this hadith concerning the Sirat, the filling of Hell and the qualities of the Pool of al-Kawthar exist in other narrations of Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.
