It is narrated from Abd al-Malik bin Umayr that he said: "I saw the blessed head of Sayyiduna al-Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) when it was presented before Ubaydullah bin Ziyad (the governor of Kufah). Then I saw the head of Ubaydullah bin Ziyad himself when it was brought to al-Mukhtar bin Abi Ubayd. Then I saw the head of al-Mukhtar bin Abi Ubayd when it was brought to Mus'ab bin al-Zubayr. And then I saw the head of Mus'ab bin al-Zubayr when it was presented at the court of (the Caliph) Abd al-Malik bin Marwan."
Imam Abu Ya'la narrated it in his Musnad, and all its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
