It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade buying and selling weapons during days of fitnah and turmoil (and civil war among Muslims)."
This narration is reported in the Musnad of Ahmad bin Mani'; its chain contains a narrator named Bahr bin Kaniz al-Saqqa', who has been declared da'if (weak) by the majority of the muhaddithun.
