وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُصَيْفَةَ ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ : مُعَاذٌ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ظَاهَرَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ بَيْنَ دِرْعَيْنِ .
4265 \ 2 - وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، لَكِنْ قَالَ : عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ طَلْحَةَ .
4265 \ 2 - وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، لَكِنْ قَالَ : عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ طَلْحَةَ .
It is narrated from a man of Banu Tamim named Mu'adh (and, according to another chain, from Sayyiduna Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him)): "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wore double armour on the day of the Battle of Uhud (that is, he put on one coat of armour over another)."
Imam Abu Ya'la narrated it through two routes: in the first route a man of Banu Tamim named Mu'adh is mentioned, while in the second route Sufyan bin Uyaynah narrated it by way of Sayyiduna Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him).
