It is narrated from Imam al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that on the day of the Battle of Badr, Uqbah bin Abi Mu'ayt was brought as a captive. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), on seeing him, said: "I will certainly kill you." He said (in astonishment): "Will you kill me (alone) out of all of Quraysh?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes!" Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and said (explaining the reason): "This man came to me and trampled my neck under his foot while I was in prostration; by Allah, he did not lift his foot until I thought that both my eyes would burst out (from the force of the pressure). And he brought the entrails of a camel (sala jazur) and threw them on me, until Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) came and removed them from my head." The narrator says: Then an order was given concerning him, and he was killed.
Imam al-Harith recorded this narration in his Musnad under the account of those killed at the Battle of Badr.
