حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا لَقِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النُّقَبَاءَ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ، قَالَ: تُؤْوُونِي وَتَمْنَعُونِي ؟ قَالُوا : فَمَا لَنَا ؟ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : لَكُمُ الْجَنَّةُ .
مُخْتَصَرٌ صَحِيحٌ ، أَخْرَجُوهُ مُطَوَّلًا .
4241 \ 2 - قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) met the representatives (nuqaba') of the Ansar, he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked them: "Will you give me shelter (among you) and protect and defend me?" They said: (If we do so,) what will we get in return for it? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For you is Paradise (as a promise)."
This is a brief and sahih (authentic) narration, while other hadith scholars have recorded it in detail; and Imam Abu Ya'la said that Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah narrated this hadith to us.
