قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى هُوَ ابْنُ يُونُسَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : لَقَدْ لَبِثْنَا بِالْمَدِينَةِ سَنَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقْدَمَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَعْمُرُ الْمَسَاجِدَ ، وَنُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Indeed, we stayed in Madinah for two years before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us; (during that period) we would populate the mosques and establish the prayer."
Imam Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah said: Isa (who is Ibn Yunus) narrated this hadith to us from Ibn Abi Layla, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him).
