Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 4223 — The mission of the Prophet ﷺ

وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَى ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ ، قَالَ : بُعِثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ .
It is narrated from a man of the tribe of Aslam that he stated: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent with the office of messengership when his (peace and blessings be upon him) blessed age was forty-three years."
Imam Musaddad narrated this hadith in his Musnad; however, because the name of one narrator in its chain is not specified (he is unnamed), this report is technically da'if (weak), for according to the authentic and reliable historical and hadith reports, his (peace and blessings be upon him) blessed age at the time of the prophetic mission was forty years.
