وَقَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ [أَبِي] حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ الْقَرَّاظِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يُحَافِظُ الْمُنَافِقُ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً عَلَى [صَلَاةِ] الْعِشَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ " - يَعْنِي فِي جَمَاعَةٍ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A hypocrite cannot keep up the Isha prayer regularly for forty nights in a row," meaning that praying Isha in congregation is not within his capacity.
Imam Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi recorded this report in his Musnad; however, it has been graded da'if (weak) because of the poor memory of the narrator Muhammad bin Abi Humayd in its chain.
