قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، ثَنَا ابْنُ حَنْظَلَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ جَدِّي حَنْظَلَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ أَبِي حَنِيفَةُ بْنُ حِذْيَمٍ : يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، إِنِّي رَجُلٌ ذُو بَنِينَ ، وَهَذَا أَخَصُّ بَنِيَّ فَسَمِّتْ عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَا غُلَامُ - وَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي وَمَسَحَ رَأْسِي - بَارَكَ اللهُ فِيكَ .
قَالَ : فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنَ حِذْيَمٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يُؤْتَى بِالْإِنْسَانِ الْوَارِمِ ، فَيَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَيَقُولُ : بِاسْمِ اللهِ ، فَيَذْهَبُ الْوَرَمُ .
قَالَ : فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنَ حِذْيَمٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يُؤْتَى بِالْإِنْسَانِ الْوَارِمِ ، فَيَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَيَقُولُ : بِاسْمِ اللهِ ، فَيَذْهَبُ الْوَرَمُ .
Sayyiduna Hanzalah bin Hidhyam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from his father that he said in the presence of the Messenger: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I am a man with children (several sons), and this is my most beloved and special son, so please supplicate for blessing for him." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O boy!" And he (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of my hand, passed his blessed hand over my head and prayed: 'Barakallahu fik' (May Allah Almighty bless you).
The narrator relates: I saw Sayyiduna Hanzalah bin Hidhyam (may Allah be pleased with him) when a person with a swelling on his body would be brought to him; he would place his hand on the affected spot and say: 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah), and the swelling would disappear at once.
