وَقَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ الْمَدَائِنِيُّ ، ثَنَا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، ثَنَا أَبُو مَرْيَمَ وَبَعْضُ جُلَسَائِهِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ يَوْمَ غَدِيرِ خُمٍّ ، فَقَالَ : اللَّهُمَّ مَنْ كُنْتُ مَوْلَاهُ فَعَلِيٌّ مَوْلَاهُ قَالَ : فَزَادَ النَّاسُ بَعْدُ : " اللَّهُمَّ وَالِ مَنْ وَالَاهُ ، وَعَادِ مَنْ عَادَاهُ " .
( 167 ) وَحَدِيثُ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - تَقَدَّمَ فِي الطَّهَارَةِ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took his hand at Ghadir Khumm and said: "O Allah! Whoever I am the mawla (beloved and patron) of, Ali too is his mawla." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that afterwards the people added these words: 'Allahumma wali man walahu wa 'adi man 'adahu' (O Allah, befriend whoever befriends him, and be the enemy of whoever is his enemy).
And the hadith of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) has already passed in the Book of Purification.
