It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was an eyewitness to the event when Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) presented to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) the wealth and goods with which he (peace and blessings be upon him) arranged the equipping and arming of the "Army of Hardship" (the army of Tabuk in a time of hardship). Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) came at that time with seven hundred uqiyahs of gold.
Imam Abu Ya'la narrated it in his Musnad.
