Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 3780 — Surah al-Balad

It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) from Banu Amir that he said: "I prayed behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and heard him recite these verses: 'Does he think that no one will have power over him?' [Surah al-Balad: 5] and 'Does he think that no one saw him?' [Surah al-Balad: 7], that is, he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the word 'yahsabu' with a fatha on the letter sin."
Imam Abu Ya'la (may Allah have mercy on him) recorded this hadith in his Musnad, in which a Companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), describing the manner of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) recitation in prayer, made clear that he (peace and blessings be upon him) pronounced the said word with a fatha on the sin.
