وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - ، وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ قَالَ : تَزْوِيجُهَا أَنْ يُؤَلِّفَ كُلَّ قَوْمٍ إِلَى شَبَهِهِمْ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that, from the pulpit, he said concerning the saying of Allah Almighty "And when the souls are paired" [Surah al-Takwir: 7]: "The pairing of souls means that (on the Day of Resurrection) every kind of people will be gathered together with those who have similar traits and like conduct."
