قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ابْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ غَيْلَانَ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - : حُدِّثْتُ أَنَّكَ كُنْتَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةَ الْجِنِّ ؟ فَقَالَ : أَجَلْ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ نَحْوَهُ - يَعْنِي نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ عَلْقَمَةَ - وَقَالَ : خَطَّ عَلَيَّ خَطًّا ، وَقَالَ : لَا تَبْرَحْ فَلَمَّا جَاءَ قَالَ لِي : لَوْ خَرَجْتَ مِنَ الْخَطِّ لَمْ آمَنْ أَنْ يَتَخَطَّفَكَ بَعْضُهُمْ ، وَقَالَ : إِنَّ الْجِنَّ تَشَاجَرُوا فِي قَتِيلٍ بَيْنَهُمْ ، فَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ بِالْحَقِّ .
وَقَالَ : رَأَيْتُهُمْ مُسْتَثْفِرِينَ بِثِيَابِ بَعْضٍ وَقَالَ : هُمْ جِنُّ نَصِيبِينَ سَأَلُوهُ الزَّادَ .
3767 \ 2 - أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ قَابُوسَ بْنِ أَبِي ظِبْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - ، قَالَ : انْطَلَقَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَانْطَلَقَ بِي مَعَهُ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى الْبَرَازِ ، ثُمَّ خَطَّ لِي خِطَّةً ، فَقَالَ : لَا تَبْرَحْ حَتَّى أَرْجِعَ إِلَيْكَ ، فَمَا جَاءَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى جَاءَ السَّحَرُ ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أُرْسِلْتُ إِلَى الْجِنِّ ، فَقُلْتُ : فَمَا هَذِهِ الْأَصْوَاتُ الَّتِي أَسْمَعُهَا ؟ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : هِيَ أَصْوَاتُهُمْ حِينَ وَدَّعُونِي ، وَسَلَّمُوا عَلَيَّ .
وَقَالَ : رَأَيْتُهُمْ مُسْتَثْفِرِينَ بِثِيَابِ بَعْضٍ وَقَالَ : هُمْ جِنُّ نَصِيبِينَ سَأَلُوهُ الزَّادَ .
3767 \ 2 - أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ قَابُوسَ بْنِ أَبِي ظِبْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - ، قَالَ : انْطَلَقَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَانْطَلَقَ بِي مَعَهُ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى الْبَرَازِ ، ثُمَّ خَطَّ لِي خِطَّةً ، فَقَالَ : لَا تَبْرَحْ حَتَّى أَرْجِعَ إِلَيْكَ ، فَمَا جَاءَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى جَاءَ السَّحَرُ ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أُرْسِلْتُ إِلَى الْجِنِّ ، فَقُلْتُ : فَمَا هَذِهِ الْأَصْوَاتُ الَّتِي أَسْمَعُهَا ؟ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : هِيَ أَصْوَاتُهُمْ حِينَ وَدَّعُونِي ، وَسَلَّمُوا عَلَيَّ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that Abdullah bin Amr bin Ghaylan al-Thaqafi asked him: Is what I have been told true, that you were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Night of the Jinn? He replied: "Yes!" Then he narrated the whole story and said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drew a line (an enclosure) around me and said to me: 'Do not move from here at all.' Then when he (peace and blessings be upon him) returned (after finishing with the jinn), he said to me: 'Had you gone out of this line, I feared that one of them would snatch you away.' He (peace and blessings be upon him) further said: 'The jinn had a dispute among themselves concerning a slain person, so judgement was given between them with truth and justice.'" Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I saw those jinn with their garments tightly wrapped (around their shins or bodies)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They were the jinn of Nasibin, who asked me for provision (food)."
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out (one night) and took me along with him until he reached an open plain. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) drew a line around me and commanded: "Do not move from here at all until I return to you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not return until the time of pre-dawn. Then when he (peace and blessings be upon him) came, he said: "I was sent to the jinn (to convey the message)." I said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then what were those voices that I was hearing?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those were their voices when they were bidding me farewell and sending greetings of peace upon me."
