Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 3763 — Surah Tabarak

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said to a man: "Shall I not give you the gift of a hadith that will make you happy?" He said: Certainly, O Abu Abbas, may Allah have mercy on you. He said: "Recite the surah 'Blessed is He in whose hand is the dominion' [Surah al-Mulk: 1], memorise it, and teach it to your family, all your children, the children of your household and your neighbours; for it is 'the Saviour' and 'the Defender'. On the Day of Resurrection it will plead and argue on behalf of its reciter before its Lord, and will beseech its Lord to save him from the Fire, provided it is preserved in his breast; and through the blessing of this surah Allah Almighty will protect its companion from the punishment of the grave." It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is my heartfelt wish that this surah be preserved in the heart of every individual of my Ummah."
Imam al-Tirmidhi recorded it in abridged form, while Imam al-Bazzar transmitted it through Salamah bin Shabib from Ibrahim bin al-Hakam and limited it to the marfu' hadith only; however, he took it to mean Surah Ya Sin, and said: We do not know this report to be narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) by any route other than this chain.
