It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him), in explanation of the saying of Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, "sincere repentance" [Surah al-Tahrim: 8], that he said: "True and sincere repentance is that a servant repents from his sin and then never returns to that evil deed again."
The chain of this report is sahih (authentic).
