وَقَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَمُسَدَّدٌ جَمِيعًا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ صُهْبَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الأَوَّلِينَ وَقَلِيلٌ مِنَ الآخِرِينَ قَالَ : كِلْتَاهُمَا مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ .
رَوَاهُ الْحَجَّاجُ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، مَرْفُوعًا .
3745 \ 2 - وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا خَاقَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْأَهْتَمِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ صُهْبَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِهِ .
رَوَاهُ الْحَجَّاجُ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، مَرْفُوعًا .
3745 \ 2 - وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا خَاقَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْأَهْتَمِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ صُهْبَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِهِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding this statement of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "A large company of the former peoples, and a few of the later peoples" [Surah al-Waqi'ah: 13-14], that he said: "Both these groups (that is, a large company of the earlier ones and a few of the later ones) belong to this very Ummah of Muhammad."
Al-Hajjaj narrated this report from Hammad bin Salamah, from Ali bin Zayd, as marfu' (that is, as a saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him), while Musaddad narrated it from Khaqan bin Abdullah bin al-Ahtam, from Ali bin Zayd, from Uqbah bin Suhban, from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with the same meaning.
